The all-new WEF – tell us what you think…

As regular and casual visitors to this site will have already noticed, we have rolled out an all-new template and jazzed things up a bit here at towers. We’ve gone upmarket somewhat, with shiny new social media buttons in the top right, and a rather spiffy picture-slider at the top of the page, amongst other alterations.

The new layout allows us highlight some of the less time-sensitive, but still very interesting stories that were vanishing from the front page a bit too quickly amongst the deluge of top-notch time-sensitive material brought to you by the model of journalistic dilligence that is the team.

However, the new template is still in a trial phase and we would be extremely grateful if you took the time to give us your views on whether you prefer the sleek new pretending-to-be-a-real-news-site look, or the classic old-school-in-yer-face footy blog look.

No matter what the layout, the content will remain its informative and irreverant self – this is purely about how best to present it.

Seeing as no one has commented yet, can I be the first to say that… um, I prefer the old format? Sorry.

The old format was very simple and uncluttered – easy to get around (so to speak).

However the new look has some nice bits (the league table and the top scroll-able section of the latest articles).

Regardless – it’s the content that matters and there are more articles than ever – all very good. Would be keen to get updates from Trevor as to how his efforts are going.

Also would be nice if there are fans of other teams who can post an occasional report (e.g. why Henan fans aren’t really a pack of angry b*st*rds; how it feels to support a team that has bought its way to the top of the CSL; has Shandong moved on from splitter Smeltz or does the club still throw darts at his picture?). Plus more gratuitous pictures of hard core fans (like the Guoan kid, the army guy and the occasional mei nu ).

I’ll work on the gratuitous pictures front. We’d really love to have other fans involved, when I was in Dalian I saw a number of foreign supporters in one of the Dalian “fan” club section (there is some hatred between the 2 Dalian supporters sections), but had no chance to talk with them. We’re more than happy to have anybody contribute, so hopefully we’ll hear more from other fans…
