Ahn Jung-Hwan given heroes goodbye at Dalian

South Korean footballing legend Ahn Jung-Hwan was given a rapturous send off yesterday as he made his last ever appearance at Dalian’s Jinzhou stadium.

Dalian’s ultras gave Ahn a noisy and enthusiastic farewell after their side’s 3-0 defeat to Jiangsu Sainty, chanting his name and setting off flares, as the striker did a lap of honour with his wife, former Miss Korea Lee Hye-won, and their two children. He told reporters that his three years in Dalian had been unforgettable and that he was deeply touched by the send-off he recieved from the Dalian supporters.

Ahn is undecided on his next move, and is said to be considering either retiring from the game or returning to the K-League.

The man, who made his name by scoring the goal that knocked Italy out of the 2002 World Cup, joined Dalian in 2009 and scored 18 goals in 64 appearances – enjoy some of the highlights of his Chinese Super League career in the reel below.
