Pub Talk: Do or Die Jiangsu – the podcast returns!

An impromptu treat for the massive this week – the “pubcast” returns! With Bcheng down Shanghai way for a week and dropping in on Mr Ultra, the lads take advantage to get together and mutter away about the CSL. Not only that, the treats don’t end there – contributor and Shenhua fan Steve Crooks gets in on the action for some serious three-way discussion of various matters of incredible unimportance. On the agenda this week: all three participants barely conceal their envy that their sides are not taking part in the biggest CSL game of the season this weekend – Sainty v Guangzhou – a mouth-watering clash. The two sides’ business and football models are compared – night and day it seems. Elsewhere, there’s time to talk about some wagers, Qingdao beach, Evergrande’s ACL exit, and with two British lads in the pub there’s plenty of Viz-style arse and bum jokes about a Tianjin striker, much to Bcheng’s consternation. Listen on for the finest English language Chinese football podcast in the entire universe, and as always leave your comments and remarks below.

A leading international commentator on Chinese football frequently quoted by the world's top media. Great podcast, boys, very entertaining and informative. I disagree a bit though about what was said about Evergrande. Watched the whole match against Al-Ittihad, they slipped once in their defense, but were relentless going forward, looked physically better than the Saudis which appeared exhausted and run out-of-depth to me and Al-Ittihad did win the competition twice in a row a few seasons ago. Looked like a good ACL campaign for me, enjoyed watching Hengda. But for a bit of fun and making things more interestingly in the domestic picture, go on Jiangsu!

Another good show. I hope we can get one more before the end of the season.

    Nice sesh lads.

Interesting segment about Man U supporters at CSL matches/commercialisation of the game. It happens here in Wgtn to a lesser degree. Not any chanting/singing but plenty of Man U, Woolwich, Liverpool shirts at our A-League games.

    “Euro snobs”

I reckon give it another 50 years and Asia and Australasia will have developed real tribal cultures around teams – not cities.

Bcheng – boo hiss! More Ars jokes needed.
