Two late goals give Shanghai SIPG big win in Shanghai derby – CSL Round Up

This week’s CSL action round-up

Beijing Guoan 2 – 2 Guangzhou R&F 

Guangzhou R&F again kicked off this weeks CSL on Friday when they travelled to Beijing to play Guoan in a difficult away fixture. The home side started the game well and within the first 10 minutes they had an early claim for a penalty when Turkish striker Yilmaz was knocked over by Huang Zhengyu in the area but the referee did not agree. The most notable chance of the first half fell to the away side when Zahavi’s close range header forced goalkeeper Yang Zhi to make a good save on the stroke of half time to keep the scores level. The away side started the second half very well and were rewarded on the 51st minute when Chen Zhichao’s clever pass split the defence open which allowed Zahavi to place a shot into the near corner making the score 0 -1. Moments later on the 54th minute the away side counter attacked very quickly when Renatinho dribbled the ball into the opposition’s box, and drilled the ball across the six yard area and the cross to be met by Xiao Zhi who made the score 0-2. The home side continued to pressure onGuangzhou R&F throughout the second half and they scored again when Li Lei cross was met by Zhang Chiming who’s header back across goal found the far corner of the net. The home side continued to create even more goal scoring chances but could not score until the 94th minute when the ball dropped to substitute Song Boxuan at the back post,  who drove the ball into the top corner making the scores level with 30 seconds remaining.

Guangzhou Evergrande 2 – 1 Jiangsu Suning

Jiangsu Suning came into this game against top of the league Guangzhou Evergrande in improved form having not lost in their last four competitive matches but still bottom of the CSL. The away side started the game very well and forced goalkeeper Zeng Cheng to make a good save within the first two minutes of the game, but the home side opened the scoring when Alan netted from a corner in the 12th minute. Both sides continued to create chances throughout the second half but failed to score until the 42nd minute when Alan beat his defender to the ball and finished the move off with a nice strike, making the score line 2-0 before half time. At the start of the second half Martinez got a very good chance to score but failed and after some small deliberation between the referee and linesman he was flagged offside anyway.  Jiangsu Suning did finally score when a Xie Pengfei strike from distance found the bottom corner. Li Xuepeng then got himself sent off after fouling Martinez forcing the ref to give him a second yellow as the game heated up, but Jiangsu Suning failed to capitalise on the one man advantage as the final score finished 2-1.

Yanbian Funde 1 – 1 Shandong Luneng

Both teams came into this game looking for all 3 points having each lost last weekend. Shandong Luneng started the game very well finding the back of the net within the first two minutes but the goal was disallowed for offside. Yanbian then got another chance when Trawally timed his run to perfection and went through one on one with the goalkeeper but he failed to bring the ball under control and the chance passed. Trawally then won his side a penalty in the 22nd minute as his pace continued to cause problems for the away side, and he took full advantage from the spot to make it 1-0. Just before half time it was the away side’s turn to take a spot kick after a silly hand ball. Tardelli made no mistake for Shandong from 12 yards. In the second half the home side continued pressure the visitors but failed to score until the 83rd minute when Jin Bo scored a close range header from a free kick, but the goal was then rightly disallowed for offside and the scores remained level.


Shanghai Shenhua 1 – 3 Shanghai SIPG

This Shanghai derby saw both sides really needing three points, Shenhua hadn’t won in their last three games and SIPG needed a win to keep the pressure on the CSL leaders Evergrande. Both teams struggled to create goal scoring chances until the 26th minute when Guarin’s quick feet allowed him to beat his defender but the angle was too tight and he failed to hit the target. Then in 35th minute SIPG got their first real chance of the game when Shenhua defender Li Jianbin misjudged his header and Wu Lei took full advantage as he timed his volley to perfection and opened the scoring. The home side leveled  before half time when Moreno won a good header to play Martins through on goal who made no mistake from inside the box. Both sides created a number of chances in the second half but good saves from the men in goal kept the scores level. Then in the 89th minute Hulk got himself onto the end of a cross but his shot was blocked, however the ball fell kindly again and he made no mistake the second time. SIPG then scored again straight after the restart when an Oscar shot hit the crossbar, and rebounded off Shenhua full back Li Yunqiu into his own net to make the final score 1-3 in a dramatic climax.


Hebei CFFC 2 – 0 Liaoning Kaixin

The home side came into this game knowing a win would move them to third in the table as they looked to continue their recent good form. Hebei found themselves 1-0 up within the first 7 minutes when a Ren Hang header from a Lavezzi cross opened the scoring. The away side struggled to create chances in the first half until seconds before halftime when a Chamanga fancy flick took the ball over the heads of the Hebei defence, but he could not finish the move off and dragged his shot wide. Hebei continued to press higher up the pitch and got their reward on the 54th minute when right back Zhao Mingjian won a tackle high up the pitch, then moved forward to drive a cross into the feet of Gui Hong whoose perfect first touch took him away from two defenders before calmly finishing the move off, which made the final score 2-0.

Chongqing Dangdai Lifan 0 – 1 Tianjin Quanjian

The home side came into this game not having won a competitive match in their last five games while their opponents have not won in their last two games. The game almost started very well for the away side when Lifan defender Liu Yu misstimed his interception which allowed Pato through one on one with the goalkeeper but Deng Xiaofei made a good save. The Brazilian then got another chance in the 19th minute when a Li Xingcan pass played him through on goal and Pato made no mistake this time, slipping the ball into the far corner.  Chongqing’s most notable chance in the first half came from Fernandinho powerful free kick from distance, but Zhang Lu made a good save. Both sides created chances in the second half but failed to score, the best chance fell to the home side when substitute Weicheng got through on goal but Zhang Lu kept the ball out of the Tianjin net again.


Changchun Yatai vs. Tianjin Teda  1 – 1

Changchun started the game very well and created two good chances within the first 10 minutes but failed to score with both attempts. Then in the 15th minute the home side finally got a goal when Sun Jie scored a head from Huszti freekick. Teda did create a number of decent chances in the first half, but Wu Yake made some good saves to keep the scores level at half time. In the 46th minute Teda equalized when a Hui Jiakang cross was met by Ideye, getting his second goal of the season. Changchun had a chance to snatch all three points in the 82nd minute but Huszti failed to convert a penalty awarded for a handball and the game finished 1-1.


Henan Jianye 0 – 1 Guizhou Zhicheng

The last game of the CSL weekend saw a mid table Guizhou Zhicheng take on joint bottom side Henan Jianye at the Zhengzhou Hanghai stadium. The away side started the game well and created a very good early chance for striker Jelavic who got around his defender very well but could not find the net with his strike. Both sides continued to play some nice football and created a few chances but neither could break the deadlock before half time. Jelavic got another chance to open the scoring at the start of the second half but goalkeeper Wu Yan reacted quickly and came off his line to close him down. The most notable chance for the home side came in the second half but Bassogog dragged his shot wide. Then in the 83rd minute the Guizhou finally broke through when a Chery shot was saved by Wu Yan, but the ball dropped back to his feet and he played a square pass across the box to Jelavic who placed the ball into the empty net to snatch the win.
