A look at all the CSL action this week…
Chongqing Dangdai Lifan 1-1 Changchun Yatai
Changchun Yatai started the match well with Yu Rui’s header from Szabolcs Huszti’s corner being well saved by Deng Xiaofei to deny Changchun an early lead.
In the second half, the visitors took the lead through Du Zhenyu after Huszti’s free kick was knocked down by Yu Rui and Zhenyu finished with a well-placed right footed volley to give the visitors a well-deserved lead.
Chongqing came close to equalising with Wu Qing’s effort being well saved effort by Wu Yake before Liu Hian equalised after being put through on goal by Fernandinho with a low finish past Yake to put the home side back on level terms.
Changchun came the closest to a winning goal with Huszti’s free kick being saved by Xiaofei and both teams shared the spoils.
Liaoning Hongyun 1- 2 Tianjin Quanjian FC
Liaoning came the closest to opening the scoring after James Chamanga’s effort was saved by Zhang Lu in the 3rd minute.
For the visitors, Alexandre Pato came close with a left footed effort that was easily saved by Shi Xiotian in the 10th minute before Tianjin Quanjian opened the scoring through Li Xingcan who was put through with an exquisite through ball from Zhang Xiuwei and Xingcan sent a delightful chip past Xiotian to give the visitors the lead.
Tianjin Quanjian became more dominant in the 1st half and tried to extend their lead further before half time with further chances before Pato did so to get his 7th goal of the season after a 1-2 with Yang Yongpo before sliding the ball past Xiaotian leaving their coach Fabio Cannavaro well pleased at half time.
In the second half, Liaoning showed more fight early on with Chamanga’s effort being denied by Zhang Lu. Later in the second half after some neat play, Liaoning come close again after Sang Yifei’s shot is well saved by Lu.
Liaoning’s endeavours were awarded a goal to rekindle their hopes to get back into the game with a deserved goal from Zhang Yanjun who was put through on goal by Yifei and emphatically finished past Lu for his 1st goal of the season for the home side.
Tianjin Quanjian had further opportunities to restore their two-goal advantage before Anthony Ujah had the best chance to bring the home side back to level terms but his header went narrowly wide of the goal.
This result leaves Tianjin Quanjian 6th in the table and Liaoning Kaixi 12th.
Shandong Luneng 2-2 Guizhou Zhicheng
With Graziano Pelle out for this game, Shandong dominated the early play with the best chance falling to Gil who fluffed his lines following Zheng Zheng’s wonderfully delivered free kick and Tjarron Chery had a shot for the visitors but this was easily saved by Weng Dalei.
However, it was the home side who took the lead through a thunderous strike from Papiss Cisse who was found by Wang Tong’s cross and blasted the ball past Wang Zhuo.
Just before half time, Diego Tardelli’s header hit the post to deny the home side a 2-0 lead at half time which left Felix Magath bemused as Tardelli should have converted that opportunity.
In the 2nd half, Tardelli had another opportunity to extend Shandong’s lead with a free header but this time it went over the bar leaving Shandong with only a one goal advantage. However, in the 77th minute, Shandong were left to rue their missed chances with Wang Xueming equalising with a well taken goal from Wang Fun’s cross to bring the visitors back into the game.
To cut further into Shandong’s wounds, Nikica Jelavic gave Guizhou the lead after meeting Fun’s low cross and coolly finishing past Wang Dalei to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
However, in stoppage time Tardelli made up for his missed chances and saved Shandong from a home defeat by tapping into an empty net after meeting the rebound from Zhuo’s save for his 9th goal of the season.
Yanbian Funde 0-2 Shanghai Shenhua
Shanghai Shenhua went close early on after Giovanni Moreno’s effort went over the bar.
After the bottom side tried to play out from the back, Fredy Guarin intercepted a pass to Han Qiagsong and set up Carlos Tevez who dispatched a cool finish past Chi Wenyi to give Shenua the lead. This was only Tevez’s second goal of the season.
Again, Yanbian get caught in possession at the back and Shenua almost capitalise to increase their advantage before half time.
In the 2nd half, Yanbian came close to equalising after Bubacarr Trawally beat 2 Shenhua players before blasting the ball over the bar. Yanbian had further chances to get back on level terms with Trawally going close again but his effort was saved by Li Shuai.
Yanbian were left to rue those missed opportunities as Shenhua doubled their lead with a tidy finish from Cao Yunding after a 1-2 with Wang Shouting which put him through on goal before dispensing the ball past Wenyi in the 69th minute.
Trawally went close to a consolation goal for the home side but his overhead kick went over the bar and in the final minute of the match Bit Garam Yoon’s effort went wide of the goal when he should have done better.
This result left Yanbian Funde 4 points clear of safety and Shenhua making progress in the league.
Tianjin Teda 1-2 Guangzhou R&F
Tianjin Teda had the first opportunity of the match with Bai Yuefeng’s cross leading to a header from Hui Jiakang which was well saved by Cheng Yuelei. Guangzhou R&F came close with an effort from Junior Urso which was well saved by Yang Qipeng.
Teda took the lead through Li Yuanyi who finished off the rebound after Brown Ideye’s header was saved by Yuelei to give Tianjin Teda the lead.
Just before half time Guangzhou R&F equalised after Qipeng misjudged Jiang Zhipeng’s cross and Eran Zahavi capitalised on Qipeng’s indecision to draw R&F level and earned Zahavi his 12th goal of the season.
In the 2nd half, Zahavi went close to getting his 2nd goal of the match with a well-placed shot that was saved by Qipeng before the visitors took the lead after Renatinho headed home Tang Miao’s cross from close range to give the visitors the lead.
Nemanja Gudelj had a free kick saved to deny Tianjin Teda an equaliser in stoppage time to give Guangzhou R&F a late scare. Despite Guangzhou R&F’s win they remain 5th in the table while Tianjin Teda slipped to 13th in the league.
Guangzhou Evergrande 2 – 0 Hebei China Fortune FC
The match was game of the week between 1st and 3rd in the table and it did not disappoint as both teams were in good form.
Hebei started the match well with the best chance early on falling to Gui Hong whose close-range effort hit the post before Yin Hongbo managed to find the rebound and his effort was well saved by Zeng Cheng.
Hebei had another opportunity to break the deadlock with Ezequiel Lavezzi’s corner kick headed by Stephane Mbia that was well saved by Cheng from point blank range with his feet.
Just after half time, the league’s joint goal scorer Ricardo Goulart opened the scoring with a well-placed header leaving Cheng stranded to give the league leaders the lead.
Hebei came close to equalising in the 50th minute with some neat play resulting in Hongbo’s effort hitting the post before Guangzhou Evergrande doubled their lead in the 53rd minute through Alan who received the ball from a deflected Paulinho free kick and Alan coolly placed his finish past Cheng to bring some daylight for Guangzhou Evergrande.
Hebei had an effort cleared off the line from Zhang Chengdong’s effort Goulart had an effort well saved by the goalkeeper to deny Evergrande a 3rd goal.
As Hebei had further opportunities to get back into the game, Evergrande tried to pick them off on the counter attack but neither team could add to their advantage and in the 88th minute, Reng Hang was given his second yellow card after obstructing Zheng Long making Hebei’s evening go from bad to worse and to endure a long trip back home.
Shanghai SIPG 2 – 0 Henan Jianye
Shanghai SIPG took the lead early on through an Eddy Jones own goal after the Henan Jianye centre back failed to clear his lines and miskicked his clearance from Lin Chuangi’s cross into the net. The Henan captain looked very disappointed.
SIPG came close to doubling their advantage before half time after Elkeson’s left footed effort beat the goalkeeper but not the post.
In the second half, Odil Akhmedov doubled SIPG’s lead after Henan failed to clear their lines from Hulk’s corner and Akhmedev’s speculative effort went through a crowded penalty and was deflected off Gomes into the goal wrong footing Wu Yan.
As Henan tried to get back into the game, they were being picked off by SIPG with Hulk setting up Wu Lei whose effort hit the post where he should have scored.
However, SIPG did get a 3rd goal with Elkeson finishing off coolly past Yan for his 7th goal of the season. Four minutes later, Lei made up for his earlier miss with a well-placed finish from Elkeson’s knockdown header to give SIPG a 4-0 lead.
Henan grabbed a consolation goal with a well taken effort from Javier Patino to give some respect to the scoreline before hitting the post in stoppage time.
Beijing Guoan 0 – 0 Jiangsu Suning
With both sides struggling for form this season, this Monday night encounter lead to numerous chances and aggressive play.
Beijing Guoan had chances early on to take the lead, with the best chances falling to Burak Yilmaz who had a header saved from point blank range by Gu Chao from Jonatan Soriano’s cross.
Renato Augusto had a couple of efforts from long range but on both occasions, was denied by Chao who well and truly kept Jiangsu Suning in the game at half time.
In the second half, Jiangsu Suning grew into the game and were close to taking the lead through Alex Teixeira whose free kick was saved by Yang Zhi.
Augusto had another long-range effort for the home side narrowly going over the bar while Yilmaz came close to opening the scoring for the home side with an acrobatic effort that was well saved by Chao who was a contender for Man of the Match.
Both sides went close in search for the winner towards the end of the game although the indiscipline in this match led to 7 bookings and Yilmaz being sent off in stoppage time for the home side.
