Tianjin Quanjin beat Evergrande in thriller, Shenhua set new record in goal orgy – CSL round up week 15

All the goals and action from the CSL as the season reaches the halfway point.

Shanghai Shenhua 8-1 Liaoning Whowin

Fredy Guarin opened the scoring for the home side after heading home Cao Yunding’s header to open the scoring in this demolition match for Shenhua which saw the home side set a new biggest victory club record.

Two minutes later, Obafemi Martins converted Yunding’s cross to double the home side’s lead with a low finish past Shi Xiotian to move up in the scoring charts.

Anthony Ujah tried to get the visitors back into the game after some neat plat but his shot went over the bar and Assani Lukimya had his free kick easily saved by Li Shuai.

After winning the ball from midfield, Guarin created an attack finding Martins who then provided an exquisite through ball to Yunding who put the ball through Xiotian’s legs which diverted the ball into the net to give Shenhua a 3-0 lead. The goal was accredited as an own goal to Xiotian as Yunding’s effort was not going on target.

In the 31st minute, Martins made it 4-0 after heading home Guarin’s cross emphatically which gave Shenhua an unassailable lead.

Martins went close to getting his hat trick after being put through his effort went agonizingly wide and in the 41st minute after Liaoning were caught in possession by Giovanni Moreno dispossessed Lukimya and stopped the ball from going in before strolling through on goal and coolly finishing past Xiotian to make the score 5-0 to Shenhua.

The scoring didn’t end there in the 1st half when Guarin got his 2nd goal of the match and Shenhua’s sixth after being put through by Moreno. The former Inter Milan man clinically put the ball past Shi to gave Shenhua a 6-0 lead before half time.

In the second half, Ujah had a chance to get Liaoning a goal but his effort was well saved by Li Shuai before heading home Yang Yu’s cross to give Liaoning a consolation to make the score 6-1.

However, Moreno restored Shenhua’s six goal advantage after he was put through by Martins and coolly dispatched another left foot finish past Shi Xiaotian.

Substitute Mao Jianqing had his effort well saved before Zhang Lu added further insult to injury from Mao’s cross to make the scoreline 8-1. This win significantly improved Shanghai Shenhua’s goal difference.

Changchun Yatai 2-1 Beijing Guoan

Without the suspended Burak Yilmaz in Roger Schmidt’s first game in charge, Beijing Guoan started the match well after Jonatan Soriano had his long-range shot saved by Wu Yake.

In the 21st minute, Odion Ighalo was put through by Tan Long and rounded Guoan’s goalkeeper Yang Zhi before putting the ball into an empty net to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

In the 40th minute, Changchun doubled their lead through Fan Xiaodong after Szabolcs Huszti’s free kick was punched away by Zhi before being volleyed in from long range by Fan Xiaodong for one of the goals of the season.

Changchun almost made it 3-0 before half time but Huszti’s free kick was saved by Zhi to keep Beijing Guoan in the match.

In the 2nd half, Guoan grew more into the match as they had more chances before getting a penalty after Soriano was fouled by Yake who was given a yellow card.

Soriano then coolly dispatched the penalty sending Yake the wrong way to rekindle Guoan’s hopes of getting back into the game.

Ighalo went close to restoring Changchun’s two goal advantage with a header that went wide before Guoan went agonizingly close to equalizing through Renato Augusto.

Guangzhou R&F 3- 4 Chongqing Lifan

Guangzhou R&F went close early on but just before half time Alan Kardec emphatically put Chongqing ahead after connecting with Ferandinho’s cross.

In the 2nd half, Guangzhou R&F equalized after Eran Zahavi was put through by Lu Lin before placing the ball past Deng Xiaofei.

Chongqing almost regained the lead where Fernandinho’s run ended with his effort hitting the bar before Wu Qing restored Chongqing’s lead with a low left footed finish past Cheng Yuelei to make the score 2-1 to the visitors.

Five minutes later, Fernandinho made the score 3-1 to Chongqing after he beat three players before cheekily placing his finish past Yuelei to place Chongqing in a strong position.

Zahavi gave the home side some hope with a beautiful curling shot past Xiaofei to make the scoreline 3-2 and put Zahavi clear in the goalscoring charts with 13 goals for the season so far.

However, Feng Jin again restored Chongqing’s 2 goal advantage after connecting with Fernandinho’s through ball and neatly placing his finish past Yuelei.

Two minutes before full time, Guangzhou R&F scored the goal of the match with Tang Mao’s long-range curling effort beating Xiaofei in the Chongqing goal to make the scoreline 4-3 to the visitors. This unexpected victory consolidated Chongqing’s position in mid table.

Hebei China Fortune FC 0-0 Shandong Luneng

In this match of 3rd against 4th, Shandong went closest earlier on with Graziano Pelle’s shot being well saved by Hebei goalkeeper Yang Cheng.

As the visitors were progressively dominating the first half, this left Hebei’s Manager Manuel Pellegrini looking bemused with the home team’s performance in the first half.

In the second half, Hebei improved and grew more into the match with Gervinho having an effort well saved by Wang Dalei.

Pelle had another effort for Shandong that just went wide of the goal and Diego Tardelli had his low shot saved by Cheng to keep the match scoreless much to Shandong’s manager Felix Magath’s frustration.

Both sides will feel disappointed to share the spoils in this match

Henan Jianye 0-0 Tianjin Teda

A mid table clash as both teams were looking to rebound positively after suffering defeats the previous week.

A free kick from Wang Dong for Tianjin Teda in the 17th minute was punched away by Wu Yan. Mbaye Diagne came close for the visitors with his header just going wide of the post. Borek Dockal had a free kick just go over the bar midway through the 1st half for the home side.

In the second half, Diagne was put through on goal by Mirahmetjan Muzepper but Diagne’s effort was well saved by Wu Yan. Henan had their best chance of the match when Feng Zhuoyi failed to get his header on target from Du Changjie’s cross. Zhuoyi should have done better with his effort.

The match ended goalless leaving both sides rooted in mid table.

Jiangsu Suning FC 0-1 Shanghai SIPG

In the big match of the day, second from top Shanghai SIPG were playing second from bottom Jiangsu Suning.

SIPG came close early on with Wei Shihao’s low shot being well saved by Gu Chao. Alex Teixeira came close for the home side with a header that well saved by Yan Junling of SIPG.

Jiangsu Suning had more efforts on goal in the first half but were unlucky not to go ahead in the match with Junling making saves to keep the scoreline at 0-0.

In the second half, Jiangsu were left to rue those missed chances with SIPG taking the lead through Elkeson who headed home Wei Shihao’s cross which came against the run of play.

SIPG went close to doubling their lead but this time Elkeson’s effort went just wide while Jiangsu came close to an equalizer with Ramires’ header was tipped over by Junling.

Both sides came close to scoring towards the end of the match but Jiangsu can feel hard done by not to get something from this match to leave them bottom of the table at the half way point.

Guizhou Zhicheng 1-2 Yanbian Funde FC

The visitors, who had lost their last 4 matches prior to this match, were looking for their luck to change and Yanbian Funde took the lead through an own goal from Guizhou defender Han Pengfei who put the ball into his own net after some mis-communication with Su Boyang.

Shortly after scoring, Yanbian should have doubled their lead through Bubacarr Trawally but his effort hit the post.

In the second half after a mix up in the Yanbian area, Michael Olunga’s close range shot hit the post, and his headed-back rebound effort was well saved by Dong Jialin.

Minutes later Nikica Jelavic had his shot deflected over the bar by his own teammate Olunga to deny the home side an equalizer. However, Olunga did equalize for Guizhou when he glanced a header from Wang Fan’s cross past Jialin to level the scores at 1-1.

Guizhou went close to taking the lead when Jelavic’s header was well saved by Jialin before Yanbian regained their advantage with Tian Jinong heading home Piao Shihao’s cross to give Yanbian their second win of the season.

Tianjin Quanjian 4-3 Guangzhou Evergrande

With both sides in good form, this match turned out to be a thrilling encounter and one of the games of the season so far. In the 7th minute, Ricardo Goulart deflected a cross towards goal with was saved by Zhang Lu’s fingertips onto the post to deny the visitors an early lead.

Alexandre Pato’s free kick was headed down by Zheng Dalun to Wang Yongpo who smashed the ball against the crossbar from close range.

In the 19th minute, Paulinho’s free kick was tipped onto the crossbar by Lu and the rebound from Feng Xiotiang found the side netting to deny Evergrande the lead.

Axel Witsel had an overhead kick easily saved by Zeng Cheng in the Evergrande goal before Evergrande catch Tianjin Quanjian on the break with Alan’s through ball finding substitute Yu Hanchao who finished with his left foot to give the visitors the lead.

Just after Evergrande scored Quanjian came close to scoring with Pato’s long range shot hitting the post.

Just after half time Sun Ke equalized for the home side when he converted Wang Yongpo’s cross with a diving header and 5 minutes later Quanjian took the lead after Kyung Won Kwon headed home Yongpo’s corner kick to give the home side a 2-1 advantage.

Another corner from Wang Yongpo connected with Pato who narrowly headed wide. However the Brazilian got his eight goal of the season beating 2 players with a mazy run from the halfway line before coolly pacing his finish past Chang to give the home side a 3-1 advantage.

Just after Quanjian scored, Evergrande almost got back into the game with Goulart’s overhead kick hitting the post before a 1-2 between Paulinho and Goulart lead to the former bringing Evergrande back into the match with a low left footed finish.

Paulinho came close to equalizing for Evergrande when his header was well saved from Lu before Quanjian won a penalty in the 81st minute after Yongpo was fouled in the penalty area. Wang Yongpo took the penalty sending Cheng the wrong way to make the score 4-2 to Tianjin Quanjian and provide Guangzhou Evergrande’s second defeat of the season.

In stoppage time, Paulinho managed to get a consolation goal from close range to give some respectability to the scoreline but Quanjian won a well contested match which leaves Guangzhou Evergrande’s advantage at the top to just one point over Shanghai SIPG.
