Plenty of action on and off the pitch this week – the panel share their thoughts on the likelihood of those Iniesta-to-China rumours (is it really all about wine?) along with talk of Guo’an manager Roger Schmidt returning to Germany. Schmidt has a big game against Evergrande to prepare for first, though – the experts look forwards to this fixture and some banana-skin clashes between CSL and League 2 sides in the CFA Cup.
There’s also a chance to reflect on Shanghai International Port Group’s perfect start and where their next test might come, along with praising the three Chinese sides who came through some tricky ACL groups. With sides like Quanjian, Hebei and Guizhou struggling to live up to their previous form – along with both promoted sides making slow starts – we also look back on what it takes to build a successful club in the CSL, and how the changing rules and regulations might be making this even more difficult.
The Chinese Football Podcast is hosted by Wild East Football’s Steve Crooks, joined by Chinese football experts Brandon Chemers in Beijing and Cameron Wilson, in Shanghai.
