Wuhan Zall have confirmed the signing of Portuguese defensive midfielder Daniel Carrico from La Liga club Sevilla.
During a time when any news related to the city of Wuhan appears to be disheartening, Wuhan Zall completed an import signing that should buoy the fanbase during this difficult time.
The Chinese Super League club have added a veteran defensive presence that is capable of sitting in front of the defence or slotting in at centre back when necessary.
Carrico, who started his career in his native Portugal with Sporting CP, spent the past six-and-a-half seasons with Sevilla, making 161 total appearances for Los Nervionenses.
During his spell with the Spanish club, Carrico helped play a role in three Europa League title successes in consecutive seasons under then-manager Unai Emery.
Sevilla also finished as runners-up in the 2017/18 Copa Del Rey final as well as the 2018 Supercopa de España during Carrico’s time at the club.
His leadership on the pitch also saw him awarded the position of vice-captain, something that should provide great value to his new Chinese teammates.
While the future of the 2020 Super League season is still up in the air, clubs are continuing their business as normal and having a player of Carrico’s experience join Wuhan will be sure to be met with positivity from the fans.
